Keisha straightened up her house as she waited for Stanley to arrive. Despite the things he had done to her, the thought of being lonely scared her to death. She had never really been good with relationships, which was why she accepted Stanley’s abuse. And while she knew Stanley had a plan to set her friends up, she had an even better plan. When she heard the knock at the door, she

hurried to answer it. “Hey, baby—oh. What’s up?” Keisha was disappointed. It wasn’t Stanley, it was Toya.

“I see someone is expecting Stanley.”

“Yes, and you’re interrupting me.” Keisha made room for Toya to walk into her house and closed the door.

“My bad. Today was supposed to be the day that we go see my little homie who going to do the job.”

Keisha’s face fell. “Oh shit, I forgot.”

“Its okay,” Toya said. “I guess I could go by myself.”

They both looked toward the door as Stanley knocked. “You sure?” Keisha asked. “I could just tell him to leave and come back later.”

“I’m positive. I’ll call you in a little while and tell you what’s going on.”

“Okay, be careful.” Keisha opened the door to let Toya out and Stanley looked at her like she had five heads.

“About damn time you opened the door. I was just about to leave.”

“I’m sorry, my cousin and I was discussing something.”

“Oh, yeah? Like what?”

Keisha cocked her head, trying to feel out Stanley’s mood. “Nothing that concerns you.”

“Okay, Keisha, you don’t have to get smart.” He settled on the edge of the couch, knees spread wide. “So, what’s been going on with you?”

“Nothing. Just trying to get my money situation and my life in order.”

“I see.” Stanley looked around the house. “Where’s Ashley?”

Ashley’s name brought tears to her eyes. Her own daughter wouldn’t talk to her because of those bitches. Ashley didn’t want to come home. The thought of her daughter not being with her destroyed her and made her even more determined to get revenge.

“She’s at my mother house.”
